Want to update CPU of Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX .

I have Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX Notebook and I want to know something about upgrading my CPU from the V140 in my Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX Notebook. I have read May post regarding the upgrading possibility for Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX Notebook and V140 in general but there is a lot of variation in CQ56 and I don’t know whether it would make any different in in CPU type. And my current budget is around 80-100 bucks to spent on the CUP . you guys have any suggestion regarding this matter

I think you have very few option of upgrading CPU which is from dual core Athlon II's, Turion II's and Phenom II's, to even three- and four-core CPUs they all are suitable for Socket S1G1 which your V140 is previous month I upgrade my Compaq notebook from the P320 CPU (2.1 GHz) to the N620 (2.8 GHz) with great result and both were dual core I didn't feel like having 3 or 4 core CPUas in my opinion to complete the normal task dual core cup is much better . Because 2 cores means worse core clock speed, comparative to dual core

I think Turion II N530, N550 and N570 are supported too and other than that there are black edition processor but those have 45 Watt TDP. M600 - M660 is with S1g3 processors and it is not supported.. but like said above the best update that is available is dual-core processors and for 80 to 100 bucks you can find Phenom II Dual Core N620 or N640 . Turion IIs are fine too, and they should be even cheaper . Triple- and quad-cores are only excellent if you run lot of applications on your notebook, or if your favorite applications can use all three or four cores.

I was also about update my laptop but had no knowledge to what CPU should I use but after reading this post thanks to you guys I made some wise decisioni have chosen Trevayne10 which I have purchased from ebay with 60$ . though I will pick up my CPU on next week and update my notebook I will let you knows how its goes I will defiantly post the progress . I have the lasts BIOS but I will check its update just in case it may required thans again guys this Is most valuable information that I have got

I just got the the N620 Phenom II Dual Core 2.8GHz CPU for me and I had paid $ 70for getting that don’t know I have made a right decision or not I thought in same price I can even but the N830 Triple Core but I was worried to putting a triple core in my laptop don’t know if my system recognize it I also ordered a single 4GB Samsung PC3 10600 chip. I'm going to use the 4GB+1GB combo for now and order another 4GB later.. I don’t know whether I am make in the right choice or not .

I have just ordered the Phenom II Dual Core 2.8 GHz S1 N-620 HMN620DCR23GM few days back for the cq56. I should get it somewhere tomorrow best bet on eBay for the application, as if now I have only one 4Gb DDR3 1333 PC3- 10600 on hand so i am using it with one of the two factory shipped 1GB DDR3 PC3 sticks and its says 10600 on them I am just preparing to update my laptop soon . there is one thing I can’t Figured that's why they put the RTC battery in such an easily accessible location...they want you to enjoy your technical work to the fullest
