Lenovo Thinkpad W520 BIOS update for UEFI and Bitlocker

I heard that all the ThinkPad W520 user getting much issue regarding the UEFI/Bitlocker. While searching about this issue I come to know about that now not only these laptop users getting the issue but the X220 also getting the same issue. So I am asking when will be BIOS update with the intention of to fix the UEFI/Bitlocker problem. The TPM won't bypass the keys toward Windows while UEFI mode is enabled.

This becomes clear if you "configure TPM start" interpreted to mean that it only activates TPM / is required. This setting controls but to start with "TPM alone", i.e. without additional PIN or startup key (= USB Drive with Key). If this option is therefore in the mistaken belief set "required" and then an option other than required rate, you have their conflict. So here they should ban the options that they do not want to support and enforce exactly one entry. Or they let the user the choice between different options and not force option.

Bitlocker is part of Windows Vista will present, where encrypted stuffing of a notebook HDD to avoid data theft, though it is lost. The system utilizes a USB memory key, Active Directory otherwise the standard Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 chip. Currently Microsoft has announced that it will incorporate technology BitLocker on Windows Server Longhorn, the next version of the server operating system. The release of Windows Longhorn Server, in beta, will roll at the end of 2007. Also at WinHEC Microsoft said that by the end of next year will begin to support the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, instead of the UEFI BIOS, both Windows Vista and Longhorn Server. Finally, on the front of Marketing, Microsoft will try to give prominence to Vista Premium instead of the Basic version, for consumers to choose higher-end Windows.

While setting a BitLocker PIN by use of BitLocker configuration wizard, the Manage-bde command-line utility, otherwise from side to side Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), remote administration, you can employ the extensive character set.O the other hand, system firmware, moreover BIOS otherwise Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), might only hold up a standard EN-US keyboard and keymap for the duration of system startup.

I'm afraid you have no choice more than to delete all partitions on the hard drive (yes, your painstakingly installed Windows then gone) and create the partitions. Choose to create the partition NOT GPT, but MBR. The good and proven MBR should not cause problems with TrueCrypt. Unfortunately I could not find additional information in various forums

BitLocker is the name of the function of Vista that deals with a fully encrypted volume. Note that this feature is included in the Enterprise and Ultimate versions of Windows Vista. To encrypt and decrypt the volume, there are three methods. The first two require the presence of a TPM (Trusted Platform Module version 1.2 or higher) and a compatible BIOS, while the latter requires only a USB key.

To use BitLocker, you must have two partitions to NTFS to a minimum. One of them is the partition that hosts the operating system while the other, the system partition (1.5 GB minimum), includes BitLocker and other utilities. The system partition should not contain sensitive data as it will not be encrypted. Note that this function does not figure the system partition. To encrypt other partitions NTFS, the recommended solution is always the EFS (Encrypting File System), which handles the encryption of data in real time on Windows.
