How to connect the touchpad to local WiFi?

I am from Microsoft .NET programmer. The CIO of the company will send an email to new employees on Friday saying that our laptops will not arrive until mid-week (Dell), and I bring my own laptop on Monday. The problem is that they do not own a laptop. I have a touchpad though. So now I'm going through the reasons I like to bring my own laptop.
    1. Material has an Intranet Web-based training that I will work through.
    2. There is no code to start looking - but it is supposed to have a development environment installed on my laptop.
    3. Documentation for corporate file servers I have to look at.
The first should be a slam-dunk with my touchpad, once I get hooked on their intranet. The other two I guess you can browse and open documents, etc, spreadsheets, text files, Please tell me, if there is any way of connecting the touchpad to your local wifi, and browse the folders on the file server MS.

This situation sounds like OP really should only rent / buy a laptop. You do not want to appear the first day and know the touchpad can do what you need. If you ask me, I have not tried the touchpad, but in the Pre, and I suspect the problem is the same. The volume / media (also known as USB drive) is a FAT volume (which is why it is recognized by Windows) and links doesn’t support symbolic links.

We do not know for sure for a TP, but in a Pre webOS can use Quick Setup to open a terminal window in the Pre. Then run the mount command from there.

    • Palm Pre 1.4.5 - Sprint
    • Palm Pixi 1.4.5 - Sprint
    • 32GB TouchPad- webOS

Re: How to connect the touchpad to local WiFi?

I have no suggestions for the OP, except for any suggestions given. But I will say, what is an urgent need for the touch pad to put it in my humble opinion on the top? I have a home network, Windows Server 2003, a desk, three laptops, all running Windows, one XP and the rest Win7. They also have a netbook with Linux (Ubuntu). My Friend is a manager and uses one of the laptops at work in hospitals in the Windows-based wireless network.

Re: How to connect the touchpad to local WiFi?

No problem to share / edit on any device, but the biggest obstacle for me to buy an immediate Touchpad is the inability to connect and share / edit files on my network and my wife to do the same work. I'll subscribe to this thread to see if some of the great minds that hang WebOS to get here is exposed as a work around, or I hope it is something that HP is working on an update to promote in the future. That would be the ideal solution.
