Macbook Pro 15" vs. Dell XPS 15z

I want to purchase a laptop and I am confused between Dell XPS 15z otherwise the Macbook Pro 15". I am going to study in the engineering college and require a laptop that will be capable to execute and run every engineering programs that I will need. I will be using the programs like Photoshop, VC++, and Autodesk 3dsMax. Below are the specifications for those.
Macbook Pro 15" - $1924

• NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M 2GB graphics with Optimus
• Battery life at least 4 hours?

I would like to tell you that it completely depends on whether you are using Mac OS or Windows 7. I can say that both the laptops are speedy machines. So finally comes down that which one you like the best. Both are capable to fulfill your requirement. I am having Dell XPS 15z laptop and that is working great. So you can also go for this. I have not tried Macbook Pro 15" till now but looking at the specifications, I can say this will also be a good option.

Some of the apps which you have given will be require placing windows on a MBP. 3DsMAX is not very MBP friendly, MS Visual will run only on windows. Therefore not to come about as a absolute grouch. why not take a look to the appropriate workstation like a Dell M series or the HP elitebook P or W series otherwise Lenovo T or W series. Each of these is much improved as compared to the either consumer models that you have given. They will also having good CPU and GPU. You will also get extended warranty on that.

I can say that Dell laptops are much superior to handle the games and that is the reason that I like to recommend you the dell XPS 15 if you wish to take improved gaming experience. But if you just want to use the professional programs then the Dell m series will be good choice for you. Other than this, Lenovo W series can also be taken as the good option for you. It is just the workstation as I know. It is having a long battery life which is a good thing in these laptops.
