Recently I have got a Lenovo thinkpad SL400 laptop. I have been using for number of purposes like web browsing, gaming, entertainment, programming, editing and also for other things. So far I did get very well performance with this. However I think that I could slightly increase the speed and performance of this laptop. For that reason I thinking about upgrading Lenovo thinkpad SL400 memory to 800MHz or 667MHz. Can anybody help me about this by providing some useful tips?

AS far as I know that you Lenovo thinkpad laptop is capable to hold up to speed of 667MHz RAM or memory. Other than this I don’t think that it is compatible or work with the 800MHz RAM. However if you really want to increase the speed of the RAM my best option is to overclock it by adjusting the voltages rather than upgrading the whole RAM kit or module. You will get the noticeable performance increase while overclocking your laptop.

The new ThinkPad SL series includes the latest business tools for SMEs and is designed to meet the needs of notebook computer using elegant, reliable and complete all functions. The SL series notebooks offer the right balance of multimedia features and business computing. Increasing the speed or upgrading the RAM to higher speed is not a big issue if your RAM slot on laptop is completely compatible to handle this. However the problem is only about the BIOS version. You might need to update it as it is required.

Yes, it is true that even if your laptop’s motherboard is compatible to do so, you will still require looking into the BIOS. Sometime the BIOS lock or profile while not allow you to upgrade the memory of laptop like that manner. Before upgrading memory just check that whether there is any BIOS upgrade available or not. Then also check that what speed of Ram your laptop and BIOS is compatible to run. I am still looking for more information about it. If I get any, I will surely post it here.
