Available processors for Toshiba A665-S51070.

Hello guys I have recently bought the Toshiba A665-S51070 satellite laptop with the i7-2630qm but due to some problem with the processor I had to return it to the Toshiba shop but they didn’t proper replacement so I gone to other shop and they were having Intel i3-380 with very low RAM. I was very happy with my initial configuration now I have loose 4 gig of RAM. So is there any way by which I can upgrade and unsolder my CPU? Please help.

First of all thanks a lot for posting this query I had same issue with my i7 processor on my Toshiba laptop and I didn’t got any proper replacement according to my need. My query is can the CPU is soldered for new processor and can I upgrade to the i5-480 or to the i5-580. Because these processor were available in the build a laptop zone so I think there is some chances to solder one of these two processors.

Well the CPU is not soldered in, there is a small screw which you have to twist to unlock the the CPU. First you will have to disassemble your laptop to get the access to the logic board of your laptop. And regarding upgrade option, that will change according to the slot you have installed. You canuse a tool “Speecy” it’s free from the “Piniform” it will give you the detailed specification of your current hardware including the CPU. After that you can search for the available processors.

Well dude you are able to upgrade to any processor but the main thing is the processor should be made available from the laptop manufacturer. So you are able to use any processor that’s available for the series of your laptop. But you should take care of one thing if you are going for a new CPU then the wattage of that CPU should not exceed the wattage of old CPU, else you will have the issue of overheating, that can cause a physical damage to your system.

Hello guys thanks a lot for reverting so quickly, well after reading the above posts I have downloaded that “Speecy” tool and it given the system specification in detail and then I called the Toshiba support staff and they have said there some processor available in i5 and the will tell me the exact processor after two days. Hope there will be some better option in place of i3 380m. Anyways guys thanks a lot for helping me out.
