The IPAD 1 had 3G. This is non-voice data. The IPAD is not a phone. The 3G wireless IPAD have 3G data service from the IPAD 3G was introduced. So what does your statement "since 3G is being introduced as a service?" The original IPAD had a variant in 3D, but there was only a month later than their brethren in Wi-Fi only. The hardware is not compatible with voice, data only. That even comprises VoIP applications like Skype, that last time I checked, even openly stated that it was not well-matched with the IPAD via 3G.

Re: iPad 2 with 3G service: Cell phone capabilities

Before iPad (3G) could connect to the Internet using GSM mobile networks, with a SIM card provider. With the IPAD 2 adds a CDMA version to use the Verizon network. Most phone providers in the U.S. use CDMA, while the rest of the world GSM is king. All iPad are able to connect to Wi-Fi networks. Coinciding with the launch of the new iPad2, Apple also unveiled a new version of the operating system for iPad, iPhone’s and iPod Touch. The same will be available in March 11 as a free update for the iPhone 3G and 4, iPod Touch (third and fourth generation) and iPad2 iPad.

Re: iPad 2 with 3G service: Cell phone capabilities

One of the most interesting aspects is its cost, as despite improvements, remains the same: from 479 Euros the 16 GB version with Wi-Fi but no 3G connection, to the 779 model with 64 GB capacity and surfing the internet with WI-FI and 3G. At this point introduces an important novelty. The "hotspot" is a tool through which the iPad2 can connect to the network through another device with 3G. Its small size has not prevented include two cameras, one front and one back for video calls. Furthermore, HD also takes over the "tablet" and that for 29 Euros; the "Mac addict" may purchase a cable to connect the device to the television.

The iPad 2 comes in two basic models, which, in turn, are broken down into three more in terms of their ability. These two models differ only in the possibility (or not) of micro-insert a 3G SIM card with which to hire a data plan with any of the national mobile operators. With this card will be possible to navigate anywhere on the geography that has mobile coverage. In terms of their ability, there are three models with 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB.

Re: iPad 2 with 3G service: Cell phone capabilities

On one side of the iPad 2 is a small removable tray. Inside is where you have to place the micro SIM. Micro SIM card is nothing more than a SIM card as the leading mobile phones, which has cut the excess plastic to almost the edge of the chip. It is therefore possible to make a card with such skill and a pair of scissors from a traditional SIM, although it is a delicate task. Once inserted into the IPAD 2, it will recognize and have high-speed 3G connection based on the data plan contract. Orange, Vodafone, major 3G operators of iPad 2. Because the price of iPad 2 is fixed and sold without the involvement of phone companies, you cannot buy it with some funding. This, on the one hand, the disadvantage of having to pay the full cost of the device, but also has the plus point of access to Internet fares cheaper than the iPhone data rates 4. Moreover, the fact that the iPad 2 3G is sold "free" also means that the user is not tied to a mobile operator, but can step from one to another depending on the offers and current prices.
