USB port not working in Nokia N8

I am trying to connect my Nokia N8 mobile phone to my pc via USB. I am running Windows XP. When I try to do the same I am getting error message. The message is "USB device not recognized". And I am constantly getting this. Before I got new hardware found wizard. And it installed everything on its own. I restarted the pc and then connected it back again. But it does not work at all. I want some help so that I can put my files and pictures in the same.
