    Mint 10: WI-FI not working Dell xps16

Everything works great on setup of Mint 10 on Dell XPS apart from on wireless while I drag the power cord and run on battery. If I connect the power cord, the WI-FI comes back? I have attempted dissimilar power settings but no pleasure. Please provide me some information regarding this. Any information which help me to solve this or to know this perfectly, appreciated.

It sounds like you have the part on power management on in the settings of your adapter. Enter this in a terminal:
    Code:
    iwconfig
It should arise with something like this:
    Code:
    txnca@SDBLMG10LT1 ~ $ ipconfig
    lo no wireless extensions.

    wlan0 IEEE 803.11bg ESSID:"WRTR1"
              Mode:Managed Frequency:2.463 GHz Access Point: 00:1C:10:1A:D6:99
              Bit Rate=55 Mb/s Tx-Power=13 dBm
              Retry long limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
              Link Quality=54/70 Signal level=-56 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0

Notice that my Power Management is situating to OFF. What is yours place to?

    Code:
    Eth0 no wireless extensions.
    eth1 IEEE 803.11 Access Point: Not-Associated
    Link Quality:6 Signal level:210 Noise level:170
    Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0
    vboxnet0 no wireless extensions.
Now something is extremely weird here. I am connected now at a cafe and WI-FI works on battery? What could maybe be the connection?

This is truly strange. Usually I would say that your router configuration is incorrect, but in that case. I don't think your router can think if you run on battery. But, I got very fast of intellect in this instant. If the Access point of the cafe gives your computer more connection than your access points at home it can be dissimilarity for your power management. I don't know it accurately but I think that it is probable that your laptop can choose if the battery is powerful sufficient to hold the low connection at home or not. If this is the correct answer you have to alter something in the BIOS. Dell laptop got truly simple, graphical BIOS so you don't have to be scared.
