    Solution for: itunes could not connect to ipod

    1. Simply restarting your computer can resolve many issues. Restart your computer and reconnect the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

    2. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes by running Apple Software Update or by downloading and installing iTunes from the downloads page.

    3. Verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. iOS devices require the following minimum version of Windows:

    * Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later (Service Pack 3 required for iPad)
    * Windows Vista
    * Windows 7

    If you have one of these versions of Windows, verify that Windows is fully up to date by downloading and installing software updates from Microsoft.

    4. Verify that the device is connected to a high-powered USB 2.0 port on your computer. Avoid connecting the device to an external USB hub and connect it directly to your computer. Find out if your computer has USB 2.0 ports.

    How to solve: itunes could not connect to ipod

    5. Check that the dock connector on both the device and cable are clean of any lint or other debris.
    If there appears to be lint or debris in the dock connector, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush the dock connectors clean, avoiding getting the lint or debris in other connectors or grills on the device.

    6. Disconnect other USB peripherals from your computer, with the exception of your keyboard and mouse. After disconnecting these peripherals, restart your computer, connect your device, and open iTunes. Examples of other USB peripherals may include, but are not limited to:

    • Printers
    • Cameras
    • Scanners
    • External hard drives
    • USB hubs
    • Card readers
    • USB Wi-Fi adapters or cellular data air cards

    If you are not sure if a peripheral uses USB, look at the end of the cable where the device connects to your computer. If the connector is the same size and shape as the connector on the Apple USB cable, then it is using a USB connection. Learn about troubleshooting USB connections.

    7. Connect your device to a different USB port on your computer.

    8. Connect your device using a different Apple 30-pin to USB cable.

    9. Use the Task Manager to stop some Apple Services:

    a. Launch the Task Manager:
    * For Windows XP: Press Control + alt + delete on the keyboard.
    * For Windows Vista and Windows 7: Press Control + alt + delete on the keyboard. Then click "Start Task Manager". If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".

    10. In some cases it may be necessary to restore the device, especially if the issue occurs on more than one computer and all of the above steps have been performed.

    a. Restoring the device will erase all data from it. If your device has an Internet connection, you may use email to send yourself your pictures, notes, and other data you may need to back up before you perform a restore.
    b. If you have backed up your device in the past and you wish to keep this backup, make a copy of the backup on your computer.
    c. Restore your device. When the restore is finished, restore from your latest backup.
    d. If the issue returns, follow this article again and restore, setting up as a new device.

    11. Connect your device to a different computer to determine whether the issue is specific to your computer.

    12. If you have performed all of the steps in this article and you are still experiencing the issue, contact Apple or your wireless carrier, whichever provides phone support for your iPhone. To find Apple's contact information in your country, refer to Contacting Apple for Support and Service. If you use an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS, you can find your wireless carrier at Locating iPhone wireless carriers.
