Can I install Maemo application on Nokia C7 and Nokia N8

I am using Nokia C7 from last few months and I have to mention that i am happy with its features and interface but i want to have Maemo operating system on it. And my friend is using Nokia N8 and he too want to change its operating system to Maemo , so i want to know here is that it is possible to move from the default operating system to Maemo in both the device because we both want to have change and try to use different applications and interface from Maemo. So if anyone have idea about this please let me know that will be really great.

I don't think you can perform this as the operating system for the mobile phones are as per the mobile manufacturer. I need to tell you that your both the phones run with Symbian OS and work on Symbian 3 developer platform and you want to use Maemo operating system in your phones which works with some other platform, so i don't think this can be possible for both the device to work with Maemo.

Better for you to work with the default operating system which is there in your phone Symbian OS. It can happen that if you install Maemo on you phone and there is compatibility problem while working with it, so better stick to the default one. If you really want to have it or have doubt about if you can have it or not then i think you need to contact to the Nokia support center they will provide you better solution for it and clear your mind about the operating system.

Why you want to move to the Maemo operating system you are already using Symbian 3 that provide you with great features like:
1. Multiple personalized home screens
2. Real multitasking
3. Turbo charged graphics
4. Intelligent networking
5. One-click connectivity for all applications
6. Usability enhancements
7. HDMI support
8. A new 2D and 3D graphics architecture
So I don't think you need to move to any other operating system. I advise you to use the default OS with both the phone.

I have both N900 and N8.
I using the N8 only for table clock (and for symbian application development).
Impossible to change the operating system until this devices using closed source drivers.
