You have got really great phone with nice features which provide you with great interface and applications. Samsung impression sgh-a877 is an Android phone, yes you can have Linux on your phone but you have to look for the compatibility of Linux in your phone. If the required specifications are matched with what required for Linux to work on your phone then you can have it and enjoy using Linux on your phone and you can have the Linux applications which are provided for mobile phones. So i think you should go for it as you are really a fan of Linux.

Yes you can have Linux on your Samsung impression but for that you need to look for the best compatible version of Linux which will be compatible with phone. Even after having Linux on your Samsung phone you cannot have the internet connection of your computer on your mobile phone instead you can use your phone internet in Mobile using USB cable or Bluetooth connection. So i suggest you to first get the information regarding versions of Linux that are there your mobile phones.

I have not came across any such application from Linux which can be installed in Samsung impression phone but still I think there should be application which help to have Linux on Samsung impression. I think you should consult to some mobile specialist that will provide you better solution for this and will recommend the application which you can have in your phone. Still you can access your computer internet on your phone through any medium but can do reverse for that you need to have GPRS activated on your phone.

I don't think you should try to go for any of the other OS for your Samsung impression because you might loss some of the functionality which are provided by the default OS in it. I think you can really work well with pre-installed OS and can install application which are compatible which it, other than this you have to unlock your phone in order to have third party application in your phone. This can be perform using some code but i suggest not to go for any of the other OS like you want Linux it can damage internal applications in it.
