Want to have Moblin on existing Ubuntu

I have purchased Samsung NC 10 which has Ubuntu desktop operating system pre-installed. Recently I have come across application named as Moblin which I felt has really great interface for Notebooks, so I am thinking for getting it in my system but don’t have any idea regarding this. Ubuntu is mounted on one hard drive mutually with home and origin partitions on it. The ideal target for me would be installing Moblin but defending the data on the Ubuntu system. I want to know is there any method to complete this without copying/making backup the whole home folder?

Yes you can have the Moblin Interface application on your Samsung Notebook which has got pre-installed Ubuntu. You can get the application for your existing Ubantu from the official website of Linux they will provide you for existing Ubuntu. You can have it in your system similarly as you can have the alternate desktop environment, so i think you can have Moblin for sure in your notebook.

I think you should go for original Moblin application for your system not the one which is provided for existing Ubuntu because there are many problems with it. You can use live CD for it; the live CD permits you to attempt Ubuntu Moblin Remix without altering your notebook at all and provide you with the option to install it permanently later on to your notebook. This live CD can be used for netbooks with screens up to 10" and the system need to have at least 256MB of RAM to install from live CD.

Yes you can do in both ways i think you can try to use the Moblin which are provided for the existing Ubuntu in your system before you go for original Moblin because you have to pay much more for it. I think the Moblin for existing Ubuntu will work fine and there will be no such issue which you are talking about. Other than this you need to consult to the specialist about the system requirement for the Moblin application in Ubuntu system.

Ok you want to have the Moblin operating system in your Netbook which has already got Ubuntu as pre-installed operating system. I suggest you to go for latest version of Moblin that is Moblin 2 which has got great interface for netbooks and similar kind of devices. It provides you with great features and provides you with the capability to work really quick environment. Provide you with easy Internet access, multimedia feature is really good with flash working really well better than the previous version. Provide you with the functionality, it has Application button on clicking that you will go to control center, there you can modify and tune all approach of settings, configure system updates, initiate personal applications, and pin them as favorites. I think you should go for this rather than going for Moblin for existing Ubuntu.
