Unable to boot off external drive On MacBook Air

I have made duplicate my MacBook Air, with the help of SuperDuper to a USB 2.0 exterior drive and it won't illustrate as a startup disk in the startup preference window or after selecting option key throughout startup. The clone appears to have worked fine; all the files show on the disk. SuperDuper specify that it had completed the external bootable. I think there is any issue while making Macbook Air bootable? I can’t fix what can be the problem so if anyone having detail about this please provide me with the solution for it.

Re: Unable to boot off external drive On MacBook Air

To get external hard drive boot on your MacBook Air you need to do the setup in the BIOS, which you require to put it to boot from hard drive first. Then just move to where you have elected the boot order of hard drives and put "Bootable Add-In Cards" as first if it is present in your machine. I think this will surely will help you fix your problem with the external drive for Macbook Air but make sure you follow the steps as mentioned above to get problem fixed with external drive.

You can do the booting as following:
    • Disk Utility.
    • Choose your duplicate external Hard Drive.
    • Partition on your macbook air.
    • Modify Volume Scheme starting from “Current" to "1 Partition"
    • Now all options supposed to be selectable.
    • Choose GUID partition table.

After having done re-partition your hard drive will re-run your cloning software.
