| Re: MBA Screen turns black
I've had for some months now a MacBook Air 11 screen with last few days the screen stays black when I turn it on, he has suffered no shock as it remained landed on my desk. It is still under warranty, so I think I bring an Apple Center near my home. The problem I have is that I changed the internal hard drive, ram and there are 4 five months, and apparently the warranty does not work anymore. Two possibilities open to me: to find the original disk and put it back in before bringing it in for repair ... or play all out and wear it all the same compensation as is. What do you suggest I do? |

Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) of an Apple laptop Summary This section allows you to learn more about the system manager of the MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and shows you how to reset it. This article is about laptops Apple Intel manufactured from February 2006. For PowerPC products manufactured before that date, see "PowerBook and iBook: Resetting Power Manager (PMU)". Products Affected MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air The System Management Controller is an integrated circuit (chip) located on the logic board of the computer. As its name suggests, its role is to manage the computer's power. It controls backlighting, slow hard drive, sleep and its output, some aspects related to the battery, the trackpad and some input / output related to the sleep mode. Over time, the setup of System Management Controller may become unusable, and cause malfunction of the computer. Your computer may refuse to turn for example, to exit the suspend mode of operation, charging the battery or the AC adapter to recognize, among others. Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) is not intended to resolve blocking problems on the computer. You should reset the SMC as a last resort in case of hardware failure may be related to system power management. Resetting the SMC restores the default settings of the hardware, including NVRAM (Non Volatile Random Access Memory), and force the extinction of the computer. In most cases, a restart is sufficient. If the computer stops responding, try each of the following in order. Test your computer after each operation to see if it was effective. If one of the worked, skip the next, since your computer is working again. Do not make resetting the System Management Controller that if any of the operations described here has been effective. Force the closure of the software running (Option-Command-Escape). Restart (Control-Command-Power). Force Shut Down (press the power button for 10 seconds). Do not make resetting the SMC if any of the transactions listed above has been effective. If this happens, follow the instructions below to find the reset button or key combination for your model of computer. If your computer is older than the models listed here, see "PowerBook and iBook: Resetting Power Manager (PMU)" or "PowerBook: Resetting Power Manager (PMU)". MacBook, MacBook Pro If the computer is on, turn it off. Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the battery from the computer. Hold down the power button for 5 seconds and release. Replace the battery and plug the power adapter. Press the power button to restart the computer. MacBook Air If the MacBook Air is on, turn it off. Connect the power adapter into a power source that works. On the keyboard of the MacBook Air, press Shift-Control-Option (left) and also press once on the power button. Note: You must use keys on the left side of the keyboard of the MacBook Air. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to start the MacBook Air. Apple advises you not to make a reset the SMC once the MacBook Air has been properly extinguished. This avoids potential problems at the file system. Although it is not essential that the adapter is connected when resetting the SMC, it may nevertheless be required if the battery is sufficiently charged or if the MacBook Air has not been fed for a extended period. |
