Re: MacBook Air update/redesign 2010

Last night we got to know more about the new MacBook Air by Apple available in two models, one 11 and one from 13 inches. A curiosity surrounding this new generation. As reported by Engadget , the new Macbook Air have not installed the plug-in Adobe Falsh. If you visit a page or a video that requires flash plug-in installed, we cannot see the content unless you first manually install the Adobe Flash Player. This is just a small element that shows how Apple wants in some way away from the world the "Flash". He has already made a significant iDevice on and perhaps this is only a first signal in the fight against Flash, also on the line computer. As stated several times, the results are announced during last fiscal, are already many other content in HTML5 and it is on this technology that will point the company.

The first step was the launch of the new MacBook Air to use the same flash storage system that Apple tablet, with a range 7 hours of internet browsing and up to 30 days of standby. "We started with everything we've learned with the iPad to create the new MacBook Air. Thanks to its incredible responsiveness and mobility change our concept of laptops," said Jobs. These computers also feature a "trackpad" multi-touch like the one found in MacBook Pro models and in line with the systems on the IPAD and the iPhone, after ruling out a touch screen for laptops which they thought was "ergonomic".

The devices work with Mac OS X Snow Leopard that Apple already has successor, the eighth version of its operating system, Mac OS X Lion, which will hit the market since June. Lion will continue the rapprochement between Mac and iPad to install as standard on Apple computers in a virtual store for downloading applications, Mac App Store, which can be seen running in full screen and other navigation systems that resemble tablet. "Lion Mac leads to many of the best ideas of the iPad," said Jobs, who announced that Mac App Store may begin to be used in low download Snow Leopard in three months.

Re: MacBook Air update/redesign 2010

The MacBook Air is still a pioneer, so it includes something never seen before on a Mac: flash storage. And as standard. Moreover, the new MacBook Air is designed with 100% flash storage, but in a whole new way. This type of storage is usually incorporated into a physical structure of the same size as a conventional hard drive, although in fact the flash chip occupies only a small part of that space. What we have done is remove the structure to use only the parts that matter: the flash chips. So we have won 90% of space you can devote to more important things, like a bigger battery. Now you have a laptop that weighs practically and it works for hours on one charge. This has a name: portability.

Re: MacBook Air update/redesign 2010

MacBook Air is a portable externally, but internally includes some peculiarities that make it quite unique. In particular the major difference is that a standard laptop has no hard drive as such, instead has solid memory soldered directly to the plate. This memory is identical to that used in devices like the iPad. This feature gives improvements in computer performance and also allows an automatic start of it. The first model, with a 11.6-inch screen, will cost 999 and $ 1,199 for the 64GB versions and 128 GB, respectively, and weigh around a kilo. Meanwhile, the second with a 13.3-inch screen will cost $ 1,299 (128GB) or $ 1,599 (256GB) and weighs 1.3 kilos.
