    I have iPhone 4 and iTunes 9.2 is installed on my computer. I would like to take backup of my iPhone using iTunes but I am unable to do so. I can't find such option on my iPhone. Can you tell me or guide me how should I do this? I have followed a website instruction but it didn't worked at all. Please help!

    I think there is some problem with your iTunes installation. I have the same version on iPhone (version 4) and iTunes 9.2 but never had such kind of problem. Even Apple have confirmed that iTunes 9.2 now allows syncing iTunes content with iPhone 4; syncing and reading e-books (with iBooks 1.1 installed); syncing PDF documents as books; utilizing new folders feature for organizing apps and faster syncing.

    I had noticed a similar problem on my iPhone. It appeared to me since I have upgraded to iOS 4. So this certainly seems to me iOS 4 problem, probably a bug. I noticed that I can do everything else like sync, restore etc. The only feature I am unable to went through is the procedure to backup iPhone.

    This is how you solve the problem of the backup of iPhone in iTunes:

    1. Search iTunesPrefs.xml file on your computer. Reconfirm if you can see the hidden files. In Windows, it stored in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes or C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes.
    2. Save iTunesPrefs.xml file somewhere else.
    3. Open iTunesPrefs.xml with the help of a text editor.
    4. Navigate to the section called User Preferences and remove the snipped into the User Preferences Section after the first <dict>:

    <key>DeviceBackupsDisabled</key>
    <data>
    dHJ1ZQ==
    </data>

    This problem occurs due to your iPhoto library. Go to <username>/Pictures/iPhoto Library, double-click on iPhoto Library to see its content and delete the folder named iPod Photo cache. Now try again to sync your iPhone. If nothing works than I think you have to reinstall IOS 4 on your iPhone to get it fixed.

    Its better to restore iPhone settings to fix this problem. Here is how you do it without using iTunes:

    * Press the home button and click on the setting icon on the main screen.
    * Go to the General tab and click on the Reset tab.
    * Click on “Reset all setting” to restore all the settings to its default settings. Don't select "Erase All Content and Settings" if you do want to restore your iPhone to its factory default setting.
    * Click the “Erase iPhone” to confirm the reset operation.
