"Unknown Error Reported" when trying to sync with BlackBerry Torch

Sponsored Links
I am having problems when I try to sync my BlackBerry Torch 9800 mobile with my Windows Vista computer. For this, I use BlackBerry Desktop Software. But I get the error message such as "Unknown Error Reported" when I try to configure it. I tried disabling the wireless sync feature but it doesn't solves the problem. Does anyone have some experience in this?

Re: "Unknown Error Reported" when trying to sync with BlackBerry Torch

You are getting this error message because Windows Vista has the feature of "User Access Control". It prevents the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to work properly. So you have to reset your sync configuration as follows:

1. Launch BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
2. Select Synchronize.
3. Select the Synchronization below the Configure title from the left panel.
4. Choose Reset Configuration.

Re: "Unknown Error Reported" when trying to sync with BlackBerry Torch

I had this problem once upon a time. In my case I was able to sync my mobile with other computers running Windows XP or any other operating system but not the one I have. I went to the location: C:\Documents and Settings\[USER NAME]\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\ and changed the name of the folders Intellisync and Loader History. Now when I run the Desktop Manager and configure sync settings again it worked absolutely fine.

How to disable the User Account Control in the Windows:
  • Go to Start
  • Click on Control Panel
  • Click User Account under User Account and Family Safety
  • Click on "Go to the main User Account"
  • Click on "Change security settings" under "Make changes to your User Account"
  • Uncheck "User Account Control" under "Turn on User Account Control"
  • Click OK.
  • Reboot your computer.

Re: "Unknown Error Reported" when trying to sync with BlackBerry Torch

It may be due to your antivirus software which is preventing Blackberry Desktop Manager to sync with BlackBerry Torch. Disable it and see if this helps. You may have to repair BlackBerry Desktop Manager to see if this works. Also make sure firewall is disabled on your router/modem.
