Need a fix for OSX 10.4 and iPad

I am very disappointed I bought a IPAD tonight and I realize it is not compatible with my macbook Mac OS X 10.4 ! Is there a trick to still run the iPad ? In short , all my files (pictures, download itunes ) is on my mac partition and then I plan to upgrade my Mac to Leopard (since the price is rather very correct). Thank you for your help.

Mac OS Tiger 10.4.11 and iPhone are incompatible ! I will concur, I was in the same situation : Bought iPhone in 4 Saturday at Orange shop back home and big message on itunes saying 9.2.1 under 10.4.11 10.5.8 Leopard that need. I was able to activate the new iPhone by downloading iTunes for Windows 7 on my office laptop , but just for activation. I went to the Apple Store Opera this afternoon and took the SHIFT Snow Leopard for 29 € .... that despite what Apple can migrate from Tiger 10.4.11 to 10.6.4 ! You need just put the CD , boot it and let the installation that is in fact a Shift your system.
Everything works well after 45 minutes of setup / SHIFT, sufficient Parallels 2.5 which does not support SL.
