No Service but 3G works

My 3G iPad is working fine but the strange thing is that the display at top screens shows No service 3G and 3G works nice.I would like to get the operator name and the network strength displayed.I purchased 3G iPad from America and i am using it in Japan. Does any one else has same problem? is there any way to get operator name and network strength?Thank you in advance.

In Japan iPad and iPhone are locked to softBank and they are not connected to BMobile. This may be the reason why you have No service 3G showing but 3G works. This are two different icons on display. Since there is no simlock as you have bought the iPad from America you should be able to connect to any network. And your iPad should working fine. Enjoy using your magical iPad. Under Cellular data what does it display?

As per my knowledge application service are provided by BMobile and it works fine. I am able to connect the 3G service without any issue but the only issue is that it displays no service and i am not getting signal bars. The other problem is that when i reboot the iPad , it is waiting for activation for long time but nothing happens, I manually need to dismiss it. So i need a solution so that i can get my service provider name as well as the signal bars are displayed.

It seems that your iPad is not recognizing the service provider.From where did you buy your laptop, from japan or somewhere else. Is it jailbroken? So i think you have to live with that, as i do not think any solution to your problem. But as long as it is working enjoy using your iPad. Have you yet tried resetting the network connections? If not then try this also.

As your iPad is not jailbroken you can call the techsupport to resolve your problem.Have you try informing about your issue and did they provide any useful information, if not then go for the replacement.Have you tried resetting the network connections yet, if not then try this. Is your iPhone is from At&T and unlocked it by yourself? Then the problem is with the device.
