Want to upgrade the Power supply on Inspiron 537st

    Hello,
I have recently purchased the Inspiron 537st 2 months back. Then i brought the Graphics Card for my monitor. It fits properly into the monitor, but the problem what i face is that my monitor keep going in the power save mode if it is on for approximately 20 min. Once the monitor turns black then only rebooting can bring it back. I am having the power supply of 250w, but it require at least 350w. I want to know that do my system will be able to handle the 400w PS?

I think that you should make the purchase of the power supply unit which is having the longest warranty. I feel that you can make use of 400w power supply with your 250w system. Only one thing should work for this, it is your power supply unit should fit with the case. Leaving this aside there is only one TFX power supply that will work in Dell laptop. The power supply unit is 300w TFX.

Thanks for giving the instance reply. I looked at your post and finded that you told me to try the 300w tfx. I want to ask one question to you, that will the 300w tfx psu will work properly. I founded that the minimum retirement is 350w. If i buy a 400w Power Supply Unit then it is not getting fitted in the case. What should i do now as nothing is helping me out.

I think you can use the 400w power supply unit. It will be easily compatible with your existing system. As you told that the 400w is not fitting in your systems slot, so you need to do some adjustment with the slot. You can make use of some external connector device and connect it to your system. You try this thing with your system, it may solve your problem.
