Precision 690 CPU Upgrade Problems.

I am using Dell Precision 690 which I have inherited and I want to upgrade the CPU for dual quad because I am using single dual-core Xeon Dempsey now which is quite slow. Can I go for 2 Xeon Dempseys that would be faster than using a brand new Intel/AMD quad core. When try to boot the system I get error message as "Alert! Incompatible Processor Detected". Will this be useful if I go for upgrading CPU?

This could be a RAM problem which you are currently using.You can go for simple solution just open the case of all RAMs and reset them again in the respective in their slots. If you are not able to fix the problem,just remove out all RAM modules and try to use one at a time in slot 1.Then in other slot respectively.

The BIOS used to give command for the power-on self test (POST). This test checks if computer is having all the necessary parts and functionality which is needed to successfully start the machine. If any error is detected it send an error message specifying the type of error occur and its type. Upgrading problem may be because you are not using the latest BIOS for your machine.

There is no way in which you can use 2 Xeon Dempsey to replace your currently using single dual-core Xeon Dempsey. This is of no use suppose currently you are using a 2.4 GHZ CPU and you have added another 2.4GHZ CPU then your system will be still working at the speeds 2.4GHZ. By using more CUP you can perform more programs at once but but CPU speed will be the same.
