    Trouble with Smart Media card

    I have a SmartMedia 1 GB It works well on a PC, but when I insert it in my digital camera Olympus is not recognized and more impossible to format. I actually chose the option FAT for formatting but still nothing works ... in fact I am rather inclined to think that we should use an app formatting specific for this type of card. Is possible to solve this problem and how to recover this photos. Please help. Thanks in advance

    If your computer no longer recognizes your card it may be one of the following problems :The card was formatted with a file system not supported. to format it to FAT16. The card has been disconnected during a write operation and data are corrupted. It may be possible to recover data with a specific software. Flash memory cards must necessarily be formatted with the FAT16 file system to be used by devices ( cameras , PDA , phone , etc.). However, for memory cards larger capacity to 32MB , Windows XP provides default the FAT32 file system .

    To format a memory card, proceed as follows :

    * Open Control Panel,
    * Choose Administrative ToolsThen go on Computer Management,
    * Select Disk Management,
    * Click the right mouse button on the drive for the memory card and select "Format FAT"(Do not choose FAT32n unless the card has a capacity of over 2 GB).

    During manipulation (copy, delete, move ... ) files, you can lose important data due to lack of concentration. FreeUndelete is a program that can recover files or data deleted . This software has a friendly interface and can be handled by anyone, whatever their level .The use boils down to select a drive ( eg c : or d : ) and then analyze it and finally choose between the files to be retrieved from a displayed list.FreeUndelete takes into account the FAT (16 or 32) and NTFS (1 or 2).

    Partition Find and Mount also allows you to recover content lost partitions by scanning the entire hard drive to find the partitions and mount them read-only , in order to explore them. The only limitation of this version is the speed limit of the transfer of data volumes retrieved and edited : 512 KBytes per second , which is enough for domestic use generic.To switch to the Find and Mount Pro and remove the speed limit , you can buy a license.

    The software file recovery will recreate any partition damaged. They only give access to that partition in order to recover the data (at least until these files are not themselves corrupt ) . Indeed , the software merely detect all partitions to list and then the various recoverable files. It must then recreate the partitions with other methods: formatting, partitioning tools . Therefore, you will often need to reinstall. An alternative to avoid losing too much time to recover data and reinstall is to create images of partitions.
