Power supply replacement for Vostro 200

I am a big fan of Dell. The laptops that they make are really very nice and durable. I am myself using Dell Vostro 200 for the pas 1 Year, and have never got any sort of complaint regarding it. Never encountered battery issues and I am really happy in the case. Today in the morning I decided to upgrade the Video Card of the laptop. I wanted to ask if there is a need to replace the power supply for doing so. I have read somewhere so I just felt the need to confirm. Any words from your side.

I have also shown myself here for the same thing. I have read somewhere that a general power supply cannot be used on the Dell machines. For the Dell systems one needs a specific power supply. This is probably because Dell has an extra cable that runs directly into the motherboard and all the rest goes to the hard drive. I do not have a much clear idea regarding this but will be really happy if I can get some of my hand on this.

For both of let me tell you that Vostro 200 is not using Dell’s proprietary power supply. If you are interested I want to tell you that the Vostro 200 Mini Tower is the one that uses standard ATX power supply. It can use both a 24-pin and 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector. In your case I think you should be able to buy a compatible power supply. You can get it from a local or online computer store. See if you can.

Just to tell you all here that, in Dell's new small-business line of computers Dell Vostro 200 is the first desktop PC. It has some advantages and disadvantages. To start with, it has a small case and has a SATA connected optical drive. This small-business PC is inexpensive but at the same time it does not offer much vital features, except for the Dell's business services. On many other forums I have found that all have voted, whether one should buy this or not, and I have found almost 65% of people saying that one should buy this laptop.

Simond thanks a lot for your help. Also what Antonio said was also true, that is the reason why I have not left this laptop yet. I have visited here to thanks and ask one more thing, regarding the Vostro 200 Slim Tower. I do not have a single guess on it. Can you all please come up with something informative on it? I also wanted to know if I can get a replacement for it. Please suggest.
