VLC Support for Maemo / Nokia N900

Nokia would make it more confidence to its Symbian? This is what one might think after the announcement stating the next set of mobile with Nokia Maemo The open source operating system. The reason why Symbian is not pursued, according to someone close to Nokia, its slowness: "Symbian is far too heavy to keep with the modern operating system .We must react ". For its part Nokia does not comment on the abandonment of Symbian. Can anybody know VLC Support for Maemo / Nokia N900. Please help.

For the moment there is no certainty that Maemo 6 is available for the N900. Buy a camera more than 500 euros without knowing whether its OS in a year will not be exceeded is a bit hard. One of the great successes of Maemo is to have met a strong community of open source developers . This gives a lot of open source software for this platform . But to what extent the software developed for Maemo 5 will be compatible with Maemo - 6 . Developers will need to rewrite them all given the move to Qt or APIs are compatible or easily modifiable.

For now only available on Maemo a single device, which inevitably limits its dissemination . Nokia is he going to really highlight this platform by installing it on other terminals future ? After rumors this summer on a portion of the range N series on Maemo it seems rather whether it be Symbian preferred including work on symbian 4. A camera would however Maemo in 2010 . Not enough to make out Maemo a small community of developers and users.

Nokia continues to expand the reach and officially announced the future availability of excellent open source development environment for Qt platform Maemo 5. Symbian now contains 20 million lines of code, it is almost as much as Windows XP. Experts say that the new central functions are very difficult to implement . This explains why it takes so long to reach a Nokia touchscreen competitor to the iPhone .
