Core 2 Extreme X9100. Naturally, compare the results of this processor to its predecessor. But before that, a quick reminder of the technical specifications of this processor , even if they do not change radically. It is therefore a processor equipped with a latest-generation Core Penryn 45nm . This fine engraving has been obtained by using the new method of manufacturing transistors , High K Metal Gate Silicon + insider on the processors. Other specifications of this processor is a memory of 6MB shared L2 cache for two cores. The minimum operating frequency of origin is 3.06 GHz.

Intel X9100 may well go higher in frequency by the fact of a multiplier unlocked upwards . To recall , the operating frequency of a processor is obtained by multiplying this coefficient, hence the name multiplier by the FSB (Front Side Bus ). Regarding this new processor FSB , as the processors of the Centrino 2 platform , it is 1066MHz Quad Pumped which gives us an FSB 266.5 MHz per channel . Thus , to achieve this frequency of 3.06 GHz , the multiplier core Core 2 Extreme X9100 that is 11.5 (3060 / 266.5 ).

We will test the Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 , but also all of the latest Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn platform to Centrino 2 in a special focus on the game but that is another story that takes time , but we will give you the results of workbenches of these processors as and when measuring the achievement of the latter . To compare this processor to its predecessor , the Core 2 Extreme X9000 , we use the same tests , ie Super Pi ( calculation 1M) Cinebench 9.5, Cinebench R10, NucleaRus 1.5.0b4, ScienceMark, PCMark05 and 3DMark06 Test ( CPU) and finally Benchmark X264 for H.264 video encoding . PCMark Vantage as 3DMark Vantage naturally have also been used but have no point of comparison , we retain for other comparisons .

Compared to Core 2 Extreme X9000, temperatures at rest are pretty much like this when in full work up high, very high even under full HD decoding Benchmark X264 with 103 ° C despite the use of a paste Thermal worthy of the name. You may imagine that such a temperature, the fans run at full speed and just as the M570RU - U, the sound is just awesome and at the same time unbearable.

Let these few results in games with PT Boats - Knights Of The Sea in DirectX10 in 1280 x 720 pixels. As the results indicate, this game uses the CPU because the processor is more powerful, the results increase . The gains are still up more than 15% in " low " when they are only about 5% in " High ". Now for Call Of Juarez Still in DirectX 10 and a resolution of 1270 x 720 pixels .
This game does not seem to use the processor since whatever the frequency of the latter , the results are identical regardless of the details used . Let's finish this quick little tour of the results of Core 2 Extreme X9100 in games with TrackMania Nations Forever. Although present, the gains are still not extraordinary . They are only about 8 % mode setting " Very high " and only about 2% in " high ". Neutral .
