Optus DATA Not working - HTC Desire NextG

I have bought a new HTC NextG Desire to which I like very much. Its WIFI was working well. But when I went out next day I noticed that I failed to receive data. It states that to check my settings of the data. But in my carrier settings all the settings are fine. I can't even check my emails on the go. DATA worked fine with my Sim in a HTC HD2.

You should to edit the APN setting using this path: Setting> Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. As you are using the settings of the Optus internet and MMS settings you need to edit them too and enter them manually. I was having the same problem with my Telstra desire. I have added the APN and got the internet/MMS etc working fine. You can search on the Google for the settings.

As I have searched out for you problem and got to the conclusion that you have to edit the Internet and MMS settings manually.

• For internet use this setting.

Name: Optus internet.
APN: Internet.
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0.
APNtype:default.

• For MMS use this settings:

Name: Optus mms.
APN: mms.
MMSproxy:61:88:190:10.
MMS port: 8070.
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0.
APN type: mms.
These settings are possible in the android phones only. after this save the settings.

I think you should to use the 3G Sim card for your Optus data. I have done this to my HTC desire. It works well in it. Well it will work only if you will switch off the phone and again switch on it. Your Wifi also should be off at the time of the phone off and on. I think you should to reset your 3G setting. But on the Optus internet connection is sometimes thin.

As you are using the Optus data in the HTC desire. For this settings you will have the handset will only work on the NextG network. I will recommend you to use 3G. 3G access is possible in metropolitan areas. These metropolitan areas are covered by Optus’ 2100 MHz network. But in the rural and regional areas you should drop back to 2G only. This will surely helpful.
