HP Photosmart 309a Scanning Connectivity

I am using HP Photosmart 309a. The network scanning does not work when I press the Scan button on the control panel of my Brother machine. I am using the document as a troubleshooting guide that HP Scanjet scanner is not recognized when connected to my computer via a USB (Universal Serial Bus). Please help. Thanks in advance.

Follow these steps to verify that the USB cable is connected correctly :
1.Turn the computer off.
2. Unplug the HP Scanjet scanner from the wall outlet.
3. Unplug the USB cable from the scanner and the computer.
4. Check if the USB cable is not damaged.
5. Reconnect the USB cable . Make sure that both ends of the cable is sufficiently embedded in the sockets. The ends of the cable must be completely encased in the USB ports on the computer and scanner .
6. Connect the HP Scanjet scanner to the outlet.
7. Restart the computer and do a rescan . If the problem persists , try using a different USB port on the computer before you continue troubleshooting.

Use the file USBMGR.EXE to verify that the computer system is compatible with USB .
1. Insert the CD from the HP scanning software in the CD- ROM . If the installation main menu appears , click Leave .
2. Click Start , Then Execute . A window execution appear.
3. In the field Open , Type : D " (where " D "is the letter of your CD -ROM ).
4. Click OK . A window showing the contents of the CD will open .
5. Double-click the file USBMGR.EXE . This will inform you if the computer has the USB function.

You need to contact the manufacturer of the computer system to get help:
1.Click Start Then click the right mouse button on Work station . Click Properties . Window System Properties opens.
2. Click on the tab Equipment , then click the button Device Manager . Window Device Manager opens.
3. Click on the sign plus (+) opposite Universal Serial Bus controllers . There should be two sub -categories:
* USB Root Hub.
* A line describing the system 's USB chipset computer.

If a firewall is active on your computer, it may block the communications network necessary for the function of network scanning . Disable the firewall on your computer and try again to scan a network by pressing the Scan your Brother machine. If the network scanning does not work correctly, this means that the firewall rejects the communication network needed . In this case Brother is advised to disable the firewall when you want to scan a network by using the scanning unit , or leave the firewall turned on and configured the firewall.

Check that Scanner Driver is in the list . If Scanner Driver Brother is in the list , continue to the next step . If the scanner Brother is not in the list, the driver is perhaps not installed correctly . Make sure the Scanner Driver Brother is selected and click Properties Brother or click the scanner and click Properties. Click the tab Network Configuration. Set Specify the name of your machine and click the button Travel. The computer will search for Brother machines . If the machine is found , make sure the IP address matches that of the Brother machine . Mark the result of the search and click OK.
