If you're a faithful reader of the Journals then you must surely have heard of Swype, "the new way of typing messages on your phone. Well, if the method is already available on Windows Mobile, it is not yet on Android. But recently android has been came up with the support for Swype beta. You may try running the beta version of Swype on your phone.

Swype, the new input method developed by the inventors of T9, will soon be available natively on Android in selected phones. A beta for Android just fled. For now, it only works on WVGA screens. In fact, Swype completes a 'layout' standard Qwerty type, allowing to write on the keyboard without needing to lift a finger to type another key: simply slide your finger between the different letters of the word. So, you can write with one hand and, according to its designers, it's much faster.

Several alternative virtual keyboards already exist on the Android Market. For example, Shapewriter which, for 10 €, offers a virtual keyboard similar to Swype. The Windows phone from Samsung Omnia II also. Theoretically, this innovation will add much to the performance of virtual keyboards, already achilles heel touch smartphone. The problem is that it is thought to use a single hand, so in portrait mode. And in portrait mode, keyboards are often all riquiqui, and often we do not see what is under his finger.
