DROID : More powerful calendar?

Sponsored Links
I was using Palm Treo and just switched to Droid. In the Palm Treo, I was very found of the calendar application. I was using DateBk6, it is the most advanced calendar application and it was indeed fantastic. I was very found of it. Is there something like this in case of Droid. I am new with the Droid. I am finding Droid's calendar even worse. What do you all here use for the calendar application? Is there something that I need to understand about the Droid's calendar or am I right in finding something like DateBk6 for Droid?

Re: DROID : More powerful calendar?

I can really understand your pain in using Droid. I felt the same while I was using it for the first time. There is nothing like that you need to worry about Droid, yes the calendar application of it is really weak but you will surely love Droid soon. If you want to perform some search operation you can go for downloading Aurora. It is a free application that can be used for searching the entire calendar on Droid. For the same you can also go for Atlas - file manager. For specifying the repeating interval see the "repetition field", using this you can perform any repeat that Palm was capable of. Yet I am looking for more, and if I am able to find I will surely let you know.

Re: DROID : More powerful calendar?

Hi, everyone there. Yes for searching Aurora is fabulous. I am playing with the Google Calendar Online for past some days and am able to make it do nearly 60% of the thing that I wish. I have already agreed with Aurora, it is great. I have also found Calendar Widget and it is also helpful to some extent. However this widget is no longer in match to the DateBk but it is somewhat helpful. I want to suggest you all some of the application that can be tried on the Droid. The are somewhat sound replacements. The list goes in this manner: BigKeys2, Weather Bug, Places Directory, PktAuctions, Locale, Aloqa, aCar, Mileage, BuzzOff, ClipStore. I think that this is more than enough. On this forum I would like to ask, if someone has found a good application for reminder? Something that works even if the droid is off.

Re: DROID : More powerful calendar?

I was surprised to see this thread. I am also an ex-Treo user. I have just seen the last post and was unhappy that Gonzo missed on the Touchdown program. I think that this program(Touchdown) is simply great. It is great in the sense when we talk about its use with Exchange. It helps in synchronizing my contacts, my tasks, calendars, etc.

Tejapaala, you can go with Touchdown or you can go for Note Everything. You can take a chance with the application Note Everything. It is a very feature-rich note (notepad) application for Droid. It possesses great notes. It can be exported as well as imported. The notes can be organized in folders or subfolders. It also has a paint-note function that works similar to the "DiddleBug" in the old Palm. It can be used to send notes to the calendar and hence find it useful in this section.

Re: DROID : More powerful calendar?

Thanks Gonzo, for the various applications. However I could not find some of the applications but will try to search for them in the market. The tips that you gave were wonderful. Yes, it is indeed true that once you start loving Droid there is nothing that can compete it. However there are some things that Palm did better than Droid.
  • ToDo--Note Everything--Got this one and this is indeed good application.
  • Calculator--gbgCalc lite FREE--Was unable to get and yet trying to search.
  • Dictionary--ColorDict--Installed on your recommendation.
  • zLauncher--Was on Palm--Was unable to get and yet trying to search.
  • ConvertrPro--Unit Converter--Installed on your recommendation.
  • BigKeys2--Was unable to get and yet trying to search.
  • ClipStore--Installed on your recommendation.

Re: DROID : More powerful calendar?

I was having the calendar application on the Motorola Q Windows phone and was missing it much. Then I discovered the use of the multiple Google Calendars. It is the same thing and completes all that I need for the Calender. I have just started with it. I set up a work calender and now I am able to add entries in them. The whole calender can be viewed at once. I guess this can be done online and will soon be available on Droid. You can look for My calendars and try creating a new one. I hope that this will help. Also, thanks for the list, I had many, but the other applications I think should be tried out.
