    Converting MP3 to Audiobook

I have apple ipod which is 1 year old. I have lot's of audio books which are in the .MP3 format and I want to convert that into iTunes recognizable format. It means iTunes should consider it as an audiobook and not as music. I trey to convert it in the .m4b format, but it consider as music. Please help me with converting MP3 to Audiobook.
    Thank you.

I use following steps to convert MP3 to Audiobook.

1.Changing the import format to AAC, adjust the settings for an audio book (32 kbps, ... or anything else you want).
2.Find your file in iTunes, right click, select "Convert to AAC".
3.Once converted, delete the MP3 version. Right click on your new CAA, and to "Show in Finder".
4.Drag-on the desktop. Once there, rename the extension from. M4a. to M4b.
5.Drag it back into iTunes and it will be picked up as an audio book and go to the Audiobooks section.

Why don't you use Audiobook Maker to do this.
Audiobook Maker makes audiobooks easy with many easy to use features:
    • Convert to MP3, AAC or iTunes Bookmarked AAC
    • Set many properties of your audiobook including bitrate, sampling frequency and number of channels
    • Preview any chapter with the built-in audio player
    • When you're done, automatically add the new book to your iTunes library
    • Reorder the chapters easily with drag and drop, or auto-sort
    • Export in a flash with FFMpeg and Apple's ChapterTool

    Re: Converting MP3 to Audiobook

I am using MP3 to iPod Audio Book Converter for this purpose. I think you also use it. MP3 to iPod Audio Book Converter converts any number of MP3 files into one big iPod Audio Book File. The advantage of doing this is that you can make use of the advanced audio book functionality of your iPod. Your iPod or iPhone remembers the last position you were listening in your audio book. So you can alway start listening where you stopped the last time. Even if you were listening to music or another audio book in the meantime.

Those who use Audiobookmaker please help me. When I tried it and I started converting mp3 to aac I have the following message:

"To open mp3info you must install Rosetta"

The window includes an "Install now", but I did not install Rosetta since I'm not sure why it is necessary.

Use Audiobook Builder to do this. Audiobook Builder comes with a few presets to get you started, but you're welcome to customize your audio settings to suit your personal taste. Drag and drop straight from iTunes to your Audiobook Builder projects. Audiobook Builder can also send its output directly to a special playlist in iTunes. Just try it.

I have compared different converters and I recommend MelodyCan.
It converts music and movies, and also can remove drm protection.
The converter is easy to install and use.
