    With the iPhone 4 , it is easy to have instant access to your contacts, calendars and same bookmarks from your browser . iTunes can sync all this information on the iPhone , and your music, videos and other content from your iTunes library. You can set iTunes to sync some or all elements
    following:
    * Contacts : names , phone numbers , addresses , email addresses, etc. .
    * Calendars ( appointments and events)
    * Mail Account Settings
    * Bookmarks webpage
    * Ringtones
    * Music and audiobooks
    * Photos
    * Podcasts
    * Movies and TV
    * Applications purchased or downloaded from the iTunes Store

    You can adjust sync settings whenever iPhone is connected to your computer. Ringtones , music, audiobooks, podcasts, video content and applications tions are synchronized purchased from your iTunes library . If you not content to iTunes, the iTunes Store (available in some countries) facili-lite purchase content or subscriptions to content , and download i tunes . You can also add music to your iTunes library from your CDs. To learn more about iTunes and the iTunes Store, open iTunes and choose Help > iTunes Help.

    The contacts, calendars and bookmarks are synchronized web page from the appli-cations of your computer, as described in the next section. Contacts and calendars are synchronized by two methods from your computer and your iPhone. Entries or changes to the iPhone are synchroized to your computer and vice versa . The bookmarks are also web page synchronized in both directions. Photos can be synchronized from a application or a folder.

    Configuring iTunes Sync :
    1. Connect iPhone to your computer and open iTunes ( if it did not open
    automatically ).
    2. In iTunes, select iPhone in the sidebar.
    3. Adjust the sync settings in each of the trim tabs .
    4. Click Apply in the lower right corner of the screen .
    By default , the option " Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected "
    is selected .

However there are several players like Banshee or Rhytmbox which give good results . For the management of its iPod , having no I could not test . There are even some apps like when ( or gtkpod always hipo for ubuntu ).
