| Re: Lenovo Y-510 Hinge problem
I bought my laptop from Lenovo, I noticed a crack in the top left of the hull. At first I did not worry more than that but gradually it has obviously grown. So I did some research and I came across this forum (and others !) with amazement , since many have the same problem . In talking about me, I also discovered that other people have this problem. |

There is no warranty of breaking of hinges because this is a physical damages so company is not taking a responsibilty for physical damages. Just you have to do one thing, you can go to the Lenovo service center and they will going to charge you and repair you laptop. But there are no other ways to solve your problem.

My pc Acer 9411 ( 2 years old) is also undergoing a failure hinge on the left , I 've always been careful never fell, so it's not my fault . I saw on other forum that I was not alone , the problem being the fact that Acer is apparently too hinges, causing a crack or opening for some of the hull. For me it is not very serious , it still works , but not close it for fear of damaging the connections, not practical for a laptop . and to $ 160 in compensation for a laptop over 2years, sorry but it not worth for me! I hope you find a solution .

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 computer that has about 2 years and no longer under warranty . The right screen hinge broke, so that if I open my laptop and it no longer opens 180 °. I wanted to fix it but I'm scared of the price of the repair. I therefore ask myself two questions: - Is it better to repair for my laptop for the Dell customer service or an independent repairer (in terms of quality and repair costs ) ? - At what price can climb this repair ? (I saw on the net repairs for such problems up to $ 500 and it's really too expensive for me!) |

I have also had this problem there is more than a year with my inspiron 6400. My solution at this time was purchased on ebay a new outline display in the 50 dollors. Then three months later I found myself with the same problem : both hinges broken. Each time , the plastic screws supposed to make the utline of the screen hinge was completely broken . I found a simple solution that costs nothing and very effective : - I unscrewed the two screws at the rear of 6400, one next to the grill of the fan and the other side of the outlet (you can also take the screws from the old dell laptop that have the mm size ) - I slipped in and saw two slices about 1 cm in diameter and directly I set it to the site of the old screw defective left and right hinge . Result : it fits perfectly ! And frankly it is not unattractive ! The washers and screws are visible but I think that given the effectiveness of the solution is negligible. |
