I am having many of my friends who simply makes use of the Windows Laptop for the GPS system. For that they simply make use of the USB GPS Receiver and a software for that. So, I want to know, can it be possible to use the MacBook Pro as a GPS Unit? Which kind of softwares will be helpful for this?

I would suggest you to make use of the MacGPS Pro navigation software:

New features for version 8.6:
  • “Startup Items” folder for files which will open automatically when MacGPS Pro starts.
  • New Map Grids and Datums for Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxombourg, New Zealand & Sweden.
  • Depth Data in Track Files.
  • Imports CompeGPS “.imp” files.

Re: Using Macbook Pro as a GPS Unit

TrailRunner is a route planning software for all kinds of long distance sports like running, biking, hiking, inline-skating, skiing and more. If you ever asked yourself how long your workout routes are and what route you should choose for this evening — then TrailRunner should be your training-partner. TrailRunner can calculate a route for your desired distance and export directions onto your iPod, giving you a detailed orientation while you are on your way. Use it.
