In order to get the things work out or process well it is essential that you check there is no other background process executing. It may be that some of the processes been running in the background may cause the working of trackpad slow due to which you are facing the issue with the same. So close if any other process if been executing in the back of your system. This may then help and make the issue to be sorted.

There is a possibility that some application may be using most of the system that is cpu usage very much. So you need to make the application to stop executing. For this all you need to do is to run the activity monitor by clicking on the apple menu and then to the system utilities. Open the activity monitor and then log to the ongoing process. Check out for which application is taking much of the cpu usage and kill the process. This may make the trackpad to work well then.
