You need to confirm outgoing connection settings are okay. I am using following setting for Hotmail (POP3) over my Nokia E72:
    • Port: 587
    • User Name: full email address
    • Password: provide your password
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
    • Security: StartTLS

I am also having E72 and using the POP3 email, but did get any issue. The POP3 requires a connection to a network TCP / IP. The port used is 110. POP3S (POP3 over SSL) uses SSL for secure communications with the server POP3S uses port 995. In general, POP3 is used with MUA (Mail User Agent) such as Outlook Express, Pegasus, Eudora etc..

I think there might be some issue in the internet connection of your mobile. You need to check if the GPRS services of your mobile is working properly. If GPRS services has some issue, then please contact to the mobile network provider of your mobile. You also need to configure the POP3 setting as per your mobile network provider.

According to me you again need to set up new mail account. If your current email account expired then also you will get trouble while sending any message. Whenever you trying to do this, then your mail will directly go into the 'Outbox' folder. I think the beast way is to contact to the service center of your mobile. I hope this will solve all your mobile problems.
