Re: What is a BES server?

What is a BES server? - It is a piece of software that integrates with Exchange email infrastructure, Domino or Groupwise and allows among other tasks such as :
    • ENTERPRISE ACTIVATION, PIM SYNC, WIRELESS - The association of an account on the server with a device called Enterprise Activation. Since the revaluation, what you see on your device are the folders in your mailbox on the server in near real time. Synchronize wirelessly, automatically and in near real-time PIM other aspects such as work, personal contacts, notes and calendar appointments.
    • WIRELESS RECONCILIATION - It is not simply the fact that when you delete in device is deleted in the mailbox and vice versa. It is also reconciliation that what is marked as read on the handheld being marked as read in the mailbox.
    • MOBILE DATA SERVICES - Taking advantage of the secure channel between the device and the BES server that provides the encryption and the Blackberry system is achieved from the warehouses access to IP addresses on the internal network, I mean, you can access from the device as far as you can get from the BES server. If from the BES can access a SQL server on the internal network from a BlackBerry device can also be if you're an SQL client application.

With BESX it will be possible to synchronize data between BlackBerry and Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Windows Small Business Server. This solution should allow small businesses and professionals to obtain more advanced features than the simple push mail without having to invest in infrastructure originally designed to manage thousands of employees connected to a central server. Besides email, the user will be able to synchronize its address book, calendar, but also his notes and tasks. BESX work with the Microsoft Office suite version 2010, 2007 and 2003 and Windows Small Business Server 2008 and 2003.

    Re: RIM's New Hosted BES

The BlackBerry Infrastructure is based on the BES and only connect it. The terminals are not visible to the public network, since they are connected to a private network through the mobile operator. They then receive an IP (Internet Protocol) dynamic, non-routable class A Clearly, the company connects to the terminals through the BlackBerry Infrastructure, which protects it from intrusion from the Internet. Thus, the TCP / IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) issued by the NBS is outgoing. When the BES software starts, it establishes a permanent connection to TCP / IP connection to the BlackBerry Infrastructure, which is authenticated by an SRP Identifier and a software key authentication. The connection established in this way starts the dialogue TCP / IP in both directions between the BES and the BlackBerry Infrastructure. All streams of data exchanged between the BES and the terminal through this connection, any incoming connection is refused, thus protecting the local network of the company.
