    Qosmio X505 Hardware Lockups: 3 for 3

Please help to solve the problem with the Toshiba laptop which I am using. I have recently bought a Toshiba Qosmio X505 laptop which is installed with Windows XP operating system. The laptop works fine sometimes and sometimes the laptop freezes frequently. It is hard to predict when the laptop will freeze or will work properly. When the system freezes, neither keyboard nor mouse of the laptop does not work. The power button has to be pressed to shut down the laptop forcefully. Is the laptop faulty? Please suggest some solutions to avoid Qosmio X505 Hardware Lockups. Any help is highly appreciated.

As you have recently bought the laptop, it will be covered under company warranty. All the products of Toshiba is covered under 1 year warranty which is only void if the laptop has sustained physical damage. Therefore I would suggest that you take the laptop to the official service center of Toshiba and get it checked. The laptop will be checked and if there are any problems it will be listed. If any hardware of the laptop needs to be replaced, it will be replaced for free.

The operating system which you are using must not be working properly and hence the system is freezing constantly. There are lot of files which are associated to the operating system. If any of the file which is associated to the operating system is corrupt or missing on the system then the operating system will not work properly. Insert the installation disk and boot the system from the Disk. Repair the current installation of Windows or install the fresh copy of Windows. After installation of Windows reboot the system and check if the problem continues.

Most of the laptops face the problem with residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips of the laptop. If the residual charge reaches the threshold level then the system will not be able to access the RAM and hence will not work properly. To bring the laptop to working state, you will have to clear the residual charge. To clear the residual charge, shut down the laptop and remove the battery. Press the power button and keep it pressed for about 30 seconds. Replace the battery and then check if the problem persists.

The functions which are performed by the computer are controlled by the motherboard. If the motherboard of the computer is not working the system will freeze frequently. Open the laptop and locate the battery on the motherboard, remove the battery and check the voltage across the battery using the digital multimeter. Replace the battery if the voltage is less than 2.5 volts. Check if the problem is solved by replacing the battery. If the situation does not improve then you will have to replace the motherboard of the laptop.
