NB205 won't turn on properly

Hello everyone, I am having a Toshiba NB205 netbook which is installed with Windows Xp operating system on it. The laptop was working fine till yesterday when the laptop shut itself down while downloading data from the Internet. Now the laptop will not boot properly. When the power button is pressed, all the LED's on the laptop glow and then nothing happens. After several booting attempts the laptop starts. I cant figure out why my NB205 won't turn on properly and hence need your help in solving this issue.

According to me the hard disk of the laptop is not working properly due to which the laptop does not boot for several attempts. The operating system which is installed on the computer is present on the hard drive of the computer and hence if the hard drive of the computer is not working properly, the system will not be able access the hard drive and hence the computer will not work properly. Therefore I will suggest that you remove the hard drive of the laptop and connect it to some other computer. Run all the diagnostics tools which are available on the hard drive. If the diagnostic tools give error, check if they are of solvable nature, if not then replacing the hard drive is only solution.

There is a battery located on the motherboard of the computer which is responsible for saving the information which is required for booting. Therefore open the laptop and locate the battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery and check the voltage across the battery using a Digital multimeter. The voltage of the battery should be between 2.5 volts to 3 volts. If the voltage of the battery is less than 2.5 volts then you will have to replace the battery of the motherboard. Replacing the battery will solve the problem.

Sometimes the RAM of the laptop gets dislocated from their respective slots. If the RAM gets dislocated from its respective RAM slots then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips and hence the system will not boot. Open the laptop and remove the RAM chips from its respective slots. Clean the connecting terminal of the RAM and replace the RAM chips again. If there are multiple RAM chips then try booting the system using single RAM chip at a time. If for a particular RAM chips, the system does not boot then discard the RAM chip as the RAM chip is faulty.

I suspect that the motherboard of the laptop which you are using is faulty due to which the laptop is not working properly. Motherboard of the laptop is responsible for controlling all the functions which are performed by the computer. If the motherboard is faulty then the all the peripherals which are connected will not receive correct voltage levels. Therefore get the motherboard of the laptop checked by some technician. If the motherboard is faulty then getting the motherboard replaced is only options.

Most of the laptops face the problem with residual charge which is stored. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips of the laptop. If the charge reaches the threshold voltage then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips. If the RAM chips are not accessible the system will not boot. You will have to clear the residual charge. To clear the residual charge, remove the battery and press the power button. Keep the button pressed till 30 seconds. Replace the battery and check if the system boots.
