Black Screen issues in Macbook Air

I have been using Mac systems for a while now but have never faced such problems with it before. I have a Macbook Air which is installed with Mac OS X Snow leopard on it. The Macbook Air was working fine but now the display of the Macbook Air turns Black when it is used for long time. The only way to bring the Macbook to working state, I have to restart the Macbook. Also the Macbook has become very slow and takes lot of time to open any applications. Therefore if anybody else if facing Black Screen issues in Macbook Air then please share some information which might help me in solving the issue. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes invalid entries get stored in the system memory of the computer. If the system memory of the computer gets flooded with invalid entries, then the operating system will not work properly. To bring the Macbook to working state, clear the system memory doing a PRAM reset. To perform a PRAM reset, follow the steps below :-
    1. Shut down the computer and Locate the following keys (Apple, Option, R and P)
    2. Press the mentioned keys while booting the computer.
    3. Keep the keys pressed till 3 startup chimes are heard.
    4. As soon as 3rd startup chime is heard, release the keys and let the system boot normally.

Check if the display drivers are installed and working properly on the system. Every device which is connected to the computer, requires a set of drivers to be installed on the computer. Drivers act as the mediator between the operating system and the device. If the appropriate drivers are not installed then the device will not work properly. Therefore first check if the drivers for the display are installed and working properly. If necessary then try and update the drivers and see if the problem is solved or not.

There must be lot of processes running on the computer together due to which the performance of the computer is suffering. Every process or application which is executed on the computer requires some memory or CPU usage allocated. If lot of processes are executed together then lot of CPU and memory will be allocated due to which the performance of the system reduces. Therefore open the activity monitor and check all the processes which are running on the computer. Terminates all the processes which are unwanted and taking lot of memory usage. Once all these processes are terminated, check if the performance of the computer improves or not.

Logic board of the computer is responsible for controlling all the functions which are performed by the computer. It is responsible for taking all the logical decisions and to control the voltage levels to all the peripherals which are connected. Therefore if the logic board of the computer is faulty then the computer will not work properly. Hence I would suggest you to get the logic board of the computer checked by some technician. If the logic board of the computer is faulty then you will have to get the logic board replaced. Once the logic board is replaced, you will not face the same problems again.

All the graphical display which are visible on the computer are produced by the Graphic processing unit. While processing any image or the graphics on the computer the GPU of the computer gets heated. If the GPU of the computer gets heated above the threshold temperature, then it shuts itself down. If the GPU shuts down then the computer will not be able to display anything and hence you will get Black screen. Check if the GPU of the computer is getting heated up or not. You can implement some cooling solutions and see if the computer works properly.
