Many of the laptops face the problem with residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips of the laptop. If the voltage of the residual charge of the laptop reaches the threshold level then the RAM chips will not be detected by the system. You will have to clear the residual charge, to bring the laptop back to working state. To clear the residual charge, shut down the laptop and disconnect the AC adapter. Remove the battery and press the power button. Keep the button pressed for about 30 seconds. Replace the battery and then see if the computer is working properly or not. |

Check if the sound drivers are installed and working on the computer. The devices which are connected to the computer, require a set of drivers to be installed on the computer. Drivers act as the mediator between the operating system and the device. If the appropriate drivers are not installed then the device will not work properly. To check if the appropriate drivers are installed and working on the computer, right click on My computer and select device manager. Highlight the sound adapter and if there are any caution signs then follow the troubleshooting procedure. If the troubleshooting does not help, then try and update the drivers. |

If the sound output or input device is removed while the system is booting then sometimes the devices are disabled and hence the system will not get detected when plugged back again. Therefore check if the sound devices are enabled and working on the computer. To check if the sound devices are enabled and working, click on start menu. Select control panel. From the list populated, select the sound devices. Now see if the device is enabled. If the device is disabled, enable it and keep the volume level at max. Save and apply the settings. Reboot the system and see if the sound problem is solved or not. |

By looking at the problem it seems like a typical operating system failure problem. The operating system which is installed on the computer, has lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files which are associated to the operating system are missing or corrupt on the system then the operating system will not work properly. Therefore insert the installation disk in the drive and boot the system from the disk. Let the installer load and give the installation option. Choose Repair Windows installation option or install a fresh copy of Windows. After reinstallation, see if there is any improvement in the performance of the computer. |

Motherboard of the computer controls all the functions which are performed by the computer. Motherboard is responsible for providing correct voltage levels to all the components which are connected to the computer. If the motherboard of the computer is not working properly then the system will not boot. Therefore I would suggest you to get the motherboard of the laptop checked. If the motherboard of the laptop is found to be faulty, replace it and check if the problem persists or not. |
