| Laptop showing less hard drive space than actual
I am having the laptop which is loaded with the Windows XP operating system. This laptop have the 80 GB of hard drive storage. Some days before the memory of the laptop was almost full. So i deleted some of the data and programs installed in the laptop. But after deleting also the hard drive space is showing the same as before. So the Laptop is showing less hard drive space than actual free hard drive space. Help me out in resolving this issue of the laptop as i am not the technical person.

You are having the laptop which has the Windows XP operating system and 80 GB of hard drive. The problem which you are facing is that, you think that the laptop is showing the less hard drive space remaining than the actual free space in the laptop. recently you deleted some data and programs installed in the laptop but still the laptop is showing the same free space as before. There can be many reasons for this issue. There is possibility that the laptop is infected with the viruses.

Some viruses and worms eats up the free hard drive space of the desktop and the laptop. So might be the same case with your laptop. So i will advise you to download and install the antivirus program in your laptop and remove all the viruses if you are not having any antivirus program installed in the system. You can install the AVG antivirus because i am using this program and it removes all types of threats from system.

You are saying that you have removed some softwares installed in the laptop to free up some space in it. So i want to ask you that, how you removed the application from the laptop. Did you uninstalled it from the laptop or you have deleted the application directly from the programs files in C drive of the laptop. So first replay back to this then we will be able to provide the proper solution of this issue.

I think you have deleted the application and softwares from the laptop directly from the programs files of the Windows XP operating system. Whenever you delete the files and folders from the hard drive of the laptop or desktop computer system, first it goes to the recycle bin of the operating system. So you will have to deleted them again from the recycle bin. Then the system will show the actual free hard drive space of the hard drive. |

If you have already deleted all the files from the recycle bin of the Windows XP operating system of the laptop then i think there is some issues related to the operating system of the laptop. May be there are many system restore points in the laptop. So i will advise you to delete all the system restore points except one or two. This will resolve the problem. |
