Acer aspire 8930g crashes while playing games

I am facing a weird problem with Acer 8930 g laptop which is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor and has 2gb RAM. The operating system installed on the computer is Windows 7. The problem which I am facing is that my Acer aspire 8930g crashes while playing games. Everytime I play the game, it works fine for about 15 minutes and then the game starts to lag. Also sometimes the laptop restarts while playing the games. Is this due to some virus? Please help.

Check if the version of the game which is installed on the computer is installed and working properly. Every application has lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files which are associated to the application gets corrupt then the application will not work at all. The only solution to such problems is to replace all the files which are corrupt or missing on the system. Replacing all the files which are corrupt will solve the problem. Uninstall the game and remove all the files/keys from the computer related to the game. Once all the files are removed, try installing the game again and see if the games work properly on the laptop.

Dual core processors are not typically meant for gaming. Multi core processors have more than one processing core. All the processing cores start processing any given application at the same time which may create some problems while running the game. You will have to disable the extra processing cores while running the game. To disable the extra processing cores while running the game, open the game and then start the task manager. Go to processes and right click on the game process. Select Set affinity and remove all the extra processing cores. Click on OK and resume the game. See if the game lags or crashes while playing.

Most of the laptops face the problem with residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips. If the voltage of the residual charge rises above the threshold level then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips. Therefore it is necessary to discharge the residual charge which is stored near the RAM chips. To discharge the residual charge, shut down the laptop and disconnect it from the AC source. Now remove the battery and press and hold the power button of the laptop. Keep the button pressed for about 40 seconds and then release the button. Replace the battery and see if the laptop works properly.

By looking at the problem, I suspect that the GPU of the computer is getting overheated due to which the laptop is not working properly. All the graphics which are visible on the screen of the computer are generated by the Graphics processing unit of the computer. The graphics processing unit of the computer gets heated while processing some image or graphics. If the graphics processing unit of the computer gets overheated then it will not be able to process any graphics further and will shut itself down. If the graphics processor shuts itself down, then the computer will freeze. Therefore check if the laptop is cooled properly or not.

Re: Acer aspire 8930g crashes while playing games

Windows 7 does not support all the games which are supported by Windows Xp operating system. If the game is not supported by the operating system then the game will either not work at all or will give some problems while running. Therefore check if the game which you are playing is supported by Windows 7 or not. If the game is not supported then you can try and run the game in compatibility mode. To run the game in compatibility mode, right click on the game icon and select properties. Now go to compatibility tab and select the option which says "Run the application in compatibility mode" and select Windows Xp. Save and apply the settings and see if the game works
