HP pavilion dv6815nr does not boot

I have recently bought an HP pavilion dv6815nr laptop which is installed with Windows Vista operating system. The laptop was working fine till yesterday when the laptop shut down itself while downloading some data from the internet and now the laptop does not boot. I tried to boot the laptop many times but when I press the power button all the LED's of the laptop glow and nothing happens. I cant figure out why my HP pavilion dv6815nr does not boot and hence need your help in solving the issue. Thanks in advance.

The battery of the laptop must be out of charge and hence the laptop is not booting. Sometimes the battery of the laptop does not get charged when connected to the AC adapter. If the battery of the laptop does not have enough charge then it will not be able to provide enough power to the laptop to boot. Hence connect the laptop to the AC adapter and let the battery get charge for about 3 to 4 hours. When the AC adapter is connected to the laptop, see if the laptop is charging. Once the battery of the laptop is having enough charge to boot, press the power button and see if the laptop is booting.

The motherboard of the computer controls all the functions which are performed by the computer. Motherboard is responsible for providing correct voltages to all the devices which are connected to the computer and also takes all the logical decisions. If the motherboard of the computer is faulty then the computer will not work properly. Hence get the motherboard of the laptop checked by some technician and if the motherboard is faulty then get it replaced. Replacing the motherboard will solve the problem.

Most of the laptops face problem with residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips. If the voltage of the residual charge reaches a threshold level then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips. If such situation occurs then the system will not boot. You will have to discharge the residual charge inorder to boot the laptop. To discharge the residual charge in the laptop, shut down the laptop and disconnect from the AC source. Remove the battery of the laptop. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, replace the battery and let the system boot.

Re: HP pavilion dv6815nr does not boot

There is a battery located on the motherboard of the laptop which is responsible for saving all the BIOS settings which are required to boot the systems. Open the laptop and locate the battery. Remove the battery and check the voltage across the battery using a Digital multimeter. The voltage of the battery should be between 2.5 to 3volts. If the voltage of the battery is less than 2.5 volts then the system will not boot. You will have to replace the battery of the motherboard. Once the battery of the motherboard is replaced, you will not face same problem again.

Re: HP pavilion dv6815nr does not boot

All the files which are required to boot the operating system are first copied to RAM of the system and then executed from there. If the system is not able to access the RAM of the system then the files which are required will not be copied and hence the operating system will not boot. Therefore open the laptop and remove the RAM chips from their respective slots. Clean the connecting terminal and replace the RAM in their respective slots. If there are multiple RAM chips then boot the system using single RAM chip at a time. If for a particular RAM chip if the system does not boot then discard the RAM chip as it may be faulty.
