Slow Synchronizing problem in Ipod Classic

Hello people, I have just shifted from MAC to Windows computer. I know that both the systems are very different and hence I need your help in solving the issue. I have an Apple 80gb classic Ipod which I used to sync with the Macbook which was running on Mac OS X 10.4 and it worked great. Now I connect the same Ipod to the computer which is running on Windows 7 and I am facing a very weird problem. The Ipod takes long time to synchronize. It takes about 1 minute to sync a single song. As I am new to Windows environment, I want to know if it is normal and if not then please suggest some solutions for Slow Synchronizing problems in Ipod Classic. Any suggestions/solutions are more than welcome.

Re: Slow Synchronizing problem in Ipod Classic

The speed of Synchronizing of data in the Ipod on a Mac based system and a Windows based systems is different. Hence I dont think there is any problem with your Ipod or your system. The speed of synchronizing also depends on the speed of the computer processor. If the processor is slow then the speed of synchronization would be definitely low. Try to synchronize small number of songs at a time which would reduce the waiting time.

Re: Slow Synchronizing problem in Ipod Classic

The Ipod also has a operating system which like any other software can get corrupt or can get stuck while processing some thing. If the Ipod gets stuck at some point then the user will face such problems. To solve such problem you will have to reset the IPOD. Resetting the IPOD will bring the Ipod out of the loop. To reset the Ipod, press and hold the menu and center button of the Ipod. Keep the buttons pressed till grey apple logo appears on the screen. Once the Apple logo is seen, release the buttons and let the ipod restart. Connect the Ipod to the computer and then see if the performance of the Ipod improves.

Re: Slow Synchronizing problem in Ipod Classic

You will have to install the drivers for the Ipod classic on the Windows 7 computer. Windows 7 has lot of incompatibility issues with many of the devices. This incompatibility issue is due to the unavailability of appropriate drivers for the device. As the appropriate drivers are not available, some devices do not work properly on the Windows 7 computer. Hence go to the official website of Apple and download the latest drivers which are available for the model of the Ipod which you are using and which are supported by Windows 7 operating system. Once the proper drivers are installed, you will not face the same problem again.

Re: Slow Synchronizing problem in Ipod Classic

It is possible that the version of the Itunes which you are using to synchronizing the Ipod is corrupt due to which you are facing such problem. All the applications which are installed on the computer have lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files associated to the application is corrupt or missing on the computer, then the application will not work properly. The only solution to such problem is to replace all the files which are corrupt or missing on the system. Uninstall the current installed version of the Itunes from the computer and remove all the files/keys from the computer. Once all the traces of the application are removed from the computer, download the installation file of the latest version of the Itunes and install it on the computer. Check if the problem still persists or not.

Re: Slow Synchronizing problem in Ipod Classic

I was also facing the same slow synchronizing problem with my Ipod classic on Windows 7 computer. It took lot of time to sync any song/video to the Ipod. I tried to find out reason for such weird behavior and I finally got the solution. Windows 7 does not recognize the Ipod and hence the synchronizing speed is low. To solve the problem, you will have to update the Windows installation on the computer. Once the Windows installation is updated, the Ipod will be detected by Windows 7 and the synchronizing speed will increase. Hope the post helps.
