Macbook Air only displays Apple logo when restarted

Hello people, I have been using Mac systems for a while now but have never faced such a problem with it before. I recently purchased Macbook Air which is installed with Mac OS X Snow leopard. The Macbook was working fine until last night when it shut itself down while downloading some data from the Internet. Now the Macbook does not boot when the power button is pressed. My Macbook Air only displays Apple logo when tried to boot. Is this some hardware failure or Software failure? Please help.

As the Macbook Air is new I would suggest you to take the Macbook to some nearest Apple authorized service center. The Macbook will be tested thoroughly by the technician at the service. Once the Macbook is tested, the technician will list all the problems which are there in your Macbook. If the Macbook is under warranty then all the problems including the hardware replacement will be done free of cost otherwise the cost of the peripheral will be taken from you.

The latest Macbooks which are released have Intel processors. Intel based Macbooks are facing problems with SMC. SMC is responsible for all the underlying the operations of the Macbook. To reset the SMC of the Macbook Air follow the steps below :-
    1. Shut down the computer
    2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
    3. Remove the battery of the Macbook.
    4. Press and hold the Power button for about 30 seconds.
    5. Replace the battery and then try to boot the Macbook.

By looking at the problem I think the operating system on the Macbook has got corrupt. Mac systems displays Apple logo at the start up when the operating system on the computer is missing. Therefore if you have the installation disk of the operating system. Insert it in the drive and then boot the system from the disk. Once the installer loads, select the install/archive install mode. In install/archive install mode, the applications which are installed on the previous operating system can be used. Once the operating system is restored then you will not face the same problem.

Many times invalid entries get stored in the RAM of the computer. If the RAM gets flooded with the invalid entries then the operating system of the computer will not work properly. The solution to such problem is to delete all the invalid entries from the RAM. Follow the steps below to perform the PRAM reset :-
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Press and locate the following keys ( Apple, Option, R and P)
    • Press and hold the following keys while pressing power button.
    • Keep the buttons pressed till three start up chimes are heard.
    • Once 3rd startup chime is heard, release the keys and let the system boot.

    Hopefully the Macbook will boot.
