Sony Alpha DSLR-A380 Vs Nikon Coolpix S230

I am going to take a new digital camera. I have to select digital camera from two models, which are Sony Alpha DSLR-A380 and Nikon Coolpix S230. According to me both Sony and Nikon are popular for their digital cameras. So it's very difficult to select one of these two camera. Please help me to make selection between Sony Alpha DSLR-A380 and Nikon Coolpix S230. Your help would be greatly appreciable.

If you take my opinion then I recommend you to take 'Sony Alpha DSLR-A380' digital camera. This digital camera comprises 14.2 MP resolution while Nikon Coolpix S230 has only 10MP resolution. This Sony support both MS Pro and SD card while Nikon Coolpix S230 has only SD card support. The battery life of Sony Alpha DSLR-A380 is continuous 500 shots while the battery of Nikon Coolpix S230 can take only 160 continuous shots.
