Problem while restoring files from Acer external HDD

I have purchased a new acer slim external hard disk drive which was loaded with a program called BackupSoft.exe . I had also backed up some of my files from my windows XP system. But Recently i purchased a new hcl me laptop installed with the windows 7. My external hdd is recognized by the laptop but i am unable to restore my files from the acer external hdd. May be the backup softwares have compressed or scrambled the files on the external hard drive please help me in this regard

The information what you provided for this is not appropriate or enough so i would like to know some more details reagarding this issue you have not mentioned whether your hard disk is still recognozed by the system running with windows XP. If not then it might have been corrupted so take it to the nearest manufacturer service center and bet it repaired there.

Thanks for replying me friend the external hard drive is detected by the system running with windows XP. I don't think that this issue is caused due to some hard disk damage or corruption. Can anybody tell me what should i do so that my hard disk is detected by the laptop and hence i can restore my backup files from the hard disk.

If the hard disk is still detected by the windows XP system then it might be due to the BackupSoft application running with the hard disk. the backupsoft application may not be compatible with the Windows 7 operating system so i would recommend you to download a newer version of the backupsoft which may be compatible with windows 7.

Have you tried to copy the files from the hard disk and pasting it in the laptop memory this should really help you to restore the backup files. That backupsoft program is not compatible with windows 7. Hence you should try to upgrade your backupsoft program or try to get an applcation similar to backupsoft this should surely solve the issue.

This problem may be because of the corruption of the backup or due to the incompatibility of the backupsoft application with the windows 7 operating system. Try to use the user manual or guide given along the external hard drive i would also suggest you to download the latest version of the backupsoft application from the manufacturer website.
