Re: Firewire adapter to connect my camcorder?

The easiest way to connect a camcorder DV / HDV Firewire port 800 is actually a cable 9-pin to 4 pin.

On Apple store: Belkin 9-Pin to 4-Pin Cable (FireWire 800/400), 6 Feet

Ideal for connecting FireWire devices 800 and FireWire 400, Belkin cable achieves transmission speeds of 400 Mbit/s. It is ideal for data transfers digital audio and video in real time.

    • Transmitting data at speeds up to 400 Mbit/s
    • Maximum conductivity of the elements of gold plated contacts
    • Cable Triple shielded
    • Minimum crosstalk and transmission of data without error

The 9 pin is only apple?

Because I bought a firewire cable, and trying to connect, it shuts down, it was sparks and all the trimmings ...

So, finally, with a firewire cable basic trade, this does not work?

Taking 9-pin (1394b) is part of the standard FireWire 800, so all compatible devices use Firewire 800, and manufacturers / vendors of cable as well.

After that, if connected in reverse, is less standard.

Re: Firewire adapter to connect my camcorder?

There, I have a firewire cable to small bulk, it must be 4-pin to 6 pin I think. it does not pass on the macbook pro anyway.

I just pick up on Trade Street, I saw, there are many 4, 6 and 9 pin. What disturbed me is that before there were only 4 and 6!

Also, my local dealer did not say when I bought the cable is that there are now 9-pin ...

Family Firewire (IEEE 1394), from left to right:
    • 4 Pin, 400 Mbps max. Getting used to MiniDV DV / HDV and some non-Apple computers (Sony calls it iLink)
    • 6 Pin, 400 Mbps max. Getting used on almost all Macs (except some MacBook and MacBook Air) since 1999
    • 9 Pin, 800 Mbps max, retro-compatible 400 Mbps. Gradually replacing the socket 6 pin on the Mac since 2003
