Screen goes black in Dell Inspiron 5150

Hello there, Please help me in this very unusual problem which I am facing with my Dell Inspiron 5150. Whenever I try to watch videos on the laptop, the screen goes black with a static sound coming. This happens whenever I try to run any application related to high graphics. I tried to boot the laptop in the safe mode, but it does not starts in the safe mode. The laptop has onboard Nvidia graphic chipset and 1gb ram. The operating system on the laptop is Windows Xp. Can this problem be due to low configuration of my laptop? Therefore if anybody knows why Screen goes black in Dell Inspiron 5150 then share some useful information. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you take the laptop to a Authorized Dell service center. The technicians at the service center will check the laptop thoroughly and will list all the problems which are there in the laptop. All the dell products come with a 1 year company warranty. If the laptop is under the dell warranty then any hardware components which needs to be replaced will be replaced for free but if the laptop is not under the warranty cover then you will have to pay for the components that are replaced along with the service charge.

There is a possibility that the operating system on the computer has got corrupt which is causing the screen of the laptop to go blank. Operating system of the computer which a very important software. If the operating system of the computer does not work properly then computer is bound to give problems like the one you are facing. If you have the install disk of the operating system, then insert it in the drive and boot the system from the disk. You can either select to repair the Windows installation on the computer or to install the fresh copy of the operating system on the computer. Before starting the installation process take the back up of the important data.

Check if the display drivers of the computer are installed and working properly on the computer. It is possible that the cooling fan of the laptop is not working properly due to which the laptop is getting overheated. The performance of the computer degrades if it gets overheated. Hence check if the fan of the laptop is working fine. Be sure that the fan is not covered with dust as the dust can block the free air flow of in the laptop. If the fan is covered with dust then try cleaning the fan and then see if the laptop works properly or not. You can also try using extra cooling pads for the laptop.
